We’re big UNO fans at our house! I remember playing UNO with my mom and dad when I was growing up, and it’s a tradition I’ve enjoyed carrying on and sharing with my son. There are so many fun new modern twists to the traditional game. One of my new favorites is UNO Roboto. Isn’t this little guy just too cute!
I got my son, my nephews, and a few of their friends together for a House Rules party featuring the UNO Roboto game to see what they thought.
The rules are very similar to the original UNO game, but there’s a couple twists. Every now and then UNO Roboto interrupts the game with a surprise command, or a house rule you’ve given him. When he does this the players have to follow his commands.
Before the game starts each player records their name, and together they come up with a “house rule.” They can come up with their own House Rule, or use one provided for them on the House Rule cards. Some of the suggestions include:
- Cluck like a chicken
- Balance a card on your head
- Do the chicken dance
- Hula dance
- Howl like a wolf
You can reset for each game and have a different House Rule if you’d like.
The game was the center of the party when the boys were playing it. One of their favorite parts was saying their name so UNO Roboto would repeat it, and setting up a house rule.
This would be a fun game for holiday gatherings or for a family game night, since people of all ages know how to play UNO, and the rules are very similar.
Right now Mattel is also having a special promotion in conjunction with Toys R’ Us where they’re giving away a free 7×9 Photo book when you purchase a participating Mattel game. You can check out the details here: Free Shutterfly Photo Book with Game Purchase. The promotion is good until the end of the year, or while supplies last.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of UNO Roboto and received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
