Color Those Easter Eggs

Published by Linette at 5:34 pm under Holidays

Easter eggsColoring Easter eggs is a fun Easter tradition. It has become an art form, with many different kits and methods available. We usually color our eggs about a week before Easter, so you know what we’ll be doing this weekend:)

Coloring Easter eggs is only one of the traditions surrounding eggs on Easter. In many cultures the Easter Bunny hides the eggs, and children go on an Easter egg hunt.

You can color Easter eggs with a few items you already have around the house, you don’t even need to buy a kit.Coloring Easter Eggs
What You Will Need:
Bowls or cups (enough for each color of egg you want to make)
Eggs (boiled, cooled, and dried)
Vinegar
Food coloring
Wax crayon
Egg carton
Newspaper
Old shirts, or paint smocks
Spoons

Coloring Easter EggsHow To Color Easter Eggs
Before you begin the egg coloring process cover your table or work surface with newspaper, and have your children put on old clothes or a paint smock.

Mix one tablespoon of vinegar with one tablespoon of food coloring in a cup or bowl. Repeat for every color you’re using. Add 1/2 to 2/3 cup of water (full enough the egg will be fully submerged).

If you’d like to create designs, or drawings on the eggs write on them with a wax crayon before you dip them. Wherever the wax is the coloring will not stick.

Use a spoon or wire egg dipper to dip your eggs into the color. The longer the eggs are submerged, the darker the color will be.

You can also dip your egg halfway, then dip the egg into a different color.

When the egg is colored set it aside in the egg carton to dry.

Have fun!
