New Playmobil Dragon Castle and Dungeon Sets

Playmobil released a couple fun new sets in April 2010. My son was always a dragon/ knight fan when he was younger, sot their two new castle sets caught my eye. These two sets would be great fun for dragon and knight fans. They offer tons of possibilities for active little imaginations.

Fist up the kids can help defend the Great Dragon Castle from attack. The set includes four figures dressed in armor, a red dragon, a working ballista, and many other accessories.

The Great Dragon Castle comes with a beacon that lights and the dungeon can be opened. Also comes with a Red Dragon Badge for the child to wear. This set is not for children under 3 since it does have some small parts, the recommended age is for five and up. You can order the Playmobil Great Dragon Castle at Amazon and it’s available at many major retailers.

The Great Dragon Castle is also compatible with the Dragon’s Dungeon. The Dungeon set includes three figures, green dragon, working ballista, and many other accessories.

The Dragon’s Dungeon has a gate that opens and a working light. The set also comes with a Green Dragon Badge for kids to wear. This set is also recommended for children 5 and up.

Summer Bridge Activities Workbook Giveaway!

Last summer we had the opportunity to take a look at the Summer Bridge Activity workbook for 4th grade going into 5th. There were some great activities in the book, and I think it helped my son keep learning in a fun way over the summer. We liked it so much I went ahead and ordered the 5th to 6th grade book this spring so we could do it again this summer!

A couple weeks ago the folks at Carson-Dellosa Publishing, the people who make the Summer Bridge Activities workbook, contacted me to see if I’d like to review a copy again this summer. Have You Seen The New Disney Pook-A-Looz?

Have you had a chance to check out the new Disney Pook-a-Looz?

Pook-a-Looz are a unique interpretation of classic Disney favorites. According to the design team:

“We focused on capturing one key element, gesture or trait of each character during the design process. We wanted the look to be very unique, quirky and cool,” said Jose Zamora, lead designer. “When you think of the Queen of Hearts, you think of her mouth, so we brought that out in the design. With the Cheshire Cat, you think of the teeth. So we focused on that famous grin.”

I can see Pook-a-Looz being a big hit with kids. They look totally adorable and huggable. I’m sure they’ll be popular to collect.

Curious George: Follow That Monkey Review

I finally got to sit down and watch Curious George: Follow That Monkey last night from start to finish. I saw parts of it the other day while my son was watching it, but last night the whole family sat down to check it out.

Ted (The Man in the Yellow Hat) is up for a promotion at the museum, but seems to have his priorities mixed up. Curious George of course gets himself into trouble by befriending an elephant in a magic show. When George and the elephant disappear, the Ted is also in trouble for kidnapping. All three end up on a cross country adventure that helps Ted remember what’s important in life.

It’s a really cute movie for kids. My son watched it for the second time last night. He’s been begging to watch it again since he watched it the first time a few days ago.

There was only one scene that worried me a little. When Curious George and a child were jumping out of the hay loft. We live on a farm, and I wouldn’t want any child to think jumping out of a hay loft is a safe thing to do. Kids like to copy things, so you may want to talk to them about that scene. There’s also a scene where someone jumps out of an airplane without a parachute on, I just worry about encouraging kids to jump off of anything! Some don’t need any encouragement in that direction.

Over all I would definitely recommend the movie it’s really fun to watch in typical Curious George style, and it’s a very good movie for children to watch, sending out the importance of family and relationships.

I told you I have two Friday Giveaways this week, the second one is a Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey, DVD Gift Pack from Universal Entertainment. The movie premiered on DVD on March 3rd. Universal sent me a review copy to check out. My son has watched it, but I haven’t had a chance to sit down and watch it myself. I’m planning to pop some popcorn tomorrow night and settle in and check it out!

Friday Giveaway~ Pillow Pets

I have two fun Friday Giveaways for you this week! First up I just received a totally hug-able and lovable Pillow Pet today. It’s an adorable Easter Bunny pillow! Check it out!

Here he is all expanded into his pillow form. Still adorable, right? Now he looks pretty comfy too.

Princess Tiana Officially On The Disney Princess Royal Court

Princess Tiana officially became a member of the Disney Princess Royal Court this week, to go along with The Princess and the Frog premiere on DVD on Wednesday. I guess you could say she’s officially arrived!

As Disney’s latest Disney Princess character, Tiana has some big shoes to fill. She will forever be celebrated and recognized as a Disney Princess, which means she will be included in all Disney Princess merchandise programs featuring multiple Disney Princess characters starting this July.

There’s already a pretty cool lineup of Princess and the Frog toys, I can’t wait to see princess Tiana included on the Disney Princess party supplies, and other fun stuff! The princess is hot on store shelves, since the beginning of this year, more than a quarter of a million toys featuring Princess Tiana have already flown off shelves.

Here’s a photo of Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and all the Disney Princess characters posing with some lucky children as Princess Tiana was officially crowned and welcomed into the Disney Princess Royal Court at a star-studded event at The Palace Hotel in New York City.

We received a copy of the Alvin and The Chipmunks The Squeakquel game for Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS version both at the same time. My son took the Wii version for a test run, but I saved the DS version, now I want to give the game to a lucky Kid’s Birthday Fun reader.

My son had fun with the Wii version of this game, but I think the game is definitely aimed at the younger crowd. Kid’s can play along to their favorite Alvin and The Chipmunks Squeakquel tunes.

Lego is releasing their first full length movie on DVD on February 23rd. My son’s a huge Lego fan so I’m totally excited that they’re sending over a copy for us to review. I’ll be back to share the the verdict after we check it out.

Kids love Valentine’s Day too. It’s always a tradition in our house that everyone gets a little something for Valentine’s Day, so I thought I’d share a few cute Valentine’s Day gift ideas for the little girl in your life.

Celebrate The Wizard Of Oz 70th Anniversary

Every time I watch the Wizard of Oz it transports me back to my childhood. It was one of my favorite childhood movies, I think Toto was my favorite character, and I remember hating the wicked witch and those aweful monkeys.

It’s hard to believe The Wizard Of Oz is having it’s 70th anniversary this year. They’re celebrating with a The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition it’s a digital copy and an exclusive set of 4 collectible 8×10 character posters (from Amazon only).

It would make the perfect birthday, or Christmas gift for the die hard Wizard of Oz fan. While your at it plan a Wizard of Oz party and invite your friends over to celebrate 70 years of a family classic. I’ll be back with some Wizard of Oz party ideas.

Lego Star Wars Party Favor and Gift Ideas

My son is a huge Lego fan, and absolutely loves the Lego Star Wars series, including the Wii game. One of the themes that come up every year for his birthday is a Lego Star Wars Party. Lego has some really cute Star Wars party favor ideas, so I thought I’d share a few of them today. I’ll be posting more Lego Star Wars party ideas over the next few days, so stay tuned!

LEGO keychains, magnets, and pens all make great party favors. Here are a couple of my favorites.

The LEGO® Star Wars ™ Magnet Sets are really super cute, this one features: Darth Vader™, a Snowtrooper™ and a Shadow Trooper™

LEGO watches would also be a big hit with any Lego fan.

One of the smaller Star Wars Lego building sets would also make a fun party favor (or a great birthday gift for the Lego Star Wars Fan). The kids could even sit at the table and build their sets.

A couple more favorites: a CW R7-A7™ Key Chain, a Stormtrooper T-shirt or a Darth Maul Pen.

This would make a great party theme for 8 to 10 year old boys! Activities would be easy, let them play the Star Wars Lego video game, put together some Star Wars Lego ships, or have a Star Wars scavenger hunt.

My Toon TV~ Make Yourself A Cartoon with MyToon!

Have you had a chance to check out the new Fisher Price MyToon TV? It looks like it’s going to be a hit for the 2009 Christmas season!

I think adults will have just as much fun with this as kids do! And I think it would be a blast at birthday or holiday parties.

MyToon TV lets your kids take a picture, then turn themselves into a cartoon. Then they can perform on the TV screen as silly personalized characters. Check out the fun video from Fisher Price.

They just apply their photo to one of the My Toon characters, then watch, dance, and have a great time with their friends.

I’m sure my son would have a blast with this, I could see my husband and I making our own cartoon characters on here. This would be such a hit at a family gathering, I might have to get one just to take to the holiday parties this year!

Girl Gourmet Gift Ideas

I love the girl gourmet cooking sets! Last year my niece got the Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker for Christmas, and we had a blast making cupcakes. It only takes about 30 seconds in the microwave, then you get to decorate.

I wouldn’t recommend it if you need to make a big batch of cupcakes, but my niece had a blast baking and sharing her cupcakes with her brothers, and her aunt.

The Girl Gourmet Line has some fun new additions just in time for the 2009 Christmas season.

All of these would be a ton of fun for a little girls cooking or jewelry party! They could make their own jewelry for party favors. I could see a group of girls giggling over this for hours.
