Planning a Beach Or Pool Birthday Party

Planning a beach party, or pool party may take a little extra pre-planning since you’ll have to keep everything cool, until you get to your destination. Cake Icings and ice cream don’t do well in the heat of summer. Make sure you have plenty of coolers, and ice on hand.

Keep decorations to a minimum, make sure you have a sign or two directing people to your party location, especially if it’s a large beach or pool.

Have plenty of adult supervision, or encourage parents to stay and keep an eye on their children. Don’t rely on the lifeguards in a busy swimming area to see what every child is doing.

Plan some fun water games:

  • Play hot potato with a beach ball.
  • Simon says in the water.
  • Have relay races where the children run or swim out around an adult and back to the start to tap another player.
  • If the pool or beach will allow it have a water balloon toss.
  • Have a set of rubber rings, and have a couple teams try to see who can pass the ring over all their players the fastest.
  • Set up a water obstacle course.
  • Set up a water volleyball, or basketball game.
  • Don’t forget to just let the kids have their own time to swim, and just have fun.

Pool or beach parties can be really fun in the heat of summer. You can use a beach or luau theme, pirate and mermaid themes also work well, or any theme you choose, just have fun with it!

Camp Rock Premiere or Birthday Party

Camp rock premieres June 20th on the Disney channel. I can’t wait! I’m a huge fan of High School Musical, and I think Camp Rock sounds like it’s going to be very similar.

If you’re planning on having a Camp Rock premiere party or a Camp Rock birthday party, Celebrate Express has Camp Rock Party Supplies.

This would be an easy party to have. If you have it on June 20th the movie can be the main event. If you have it another time, just break out the karaoke machine, or the cd player and let the kids sing and dance the night away.

Decorations will be simple, add pink and purple streamers, music notes, cut out stars, or guitars for decorations. The cake can be guitar shaped, or add black music notes to white cupcakes.

Visit the Camp Rock official website for more games and party inspiration.

Plan an Intergalactic Wall-E Space Party

Published by Linette under Party Themes

Wall-E is scheduled to hit theatres on June 27th. It would work great with a a space theme for a birthday party, or movie premiere party.

Hang stars and planets from the ceiling, and make a spaceship for your table centerpiece. Birthday in a Box has a Wall-E Deluxe Party Box which includes everything you need to throw a Wall-E movie party for eight.

The official Wall-E website has games, wallpapers, and widgets you can use to make invitations, party game ideas, and decorations with a little imagination.

Wall-E party game ideas:

  • Have a "trash" scavenger hunt.
  • Give the party goers some boxes, and aluminum foil, and let them build a bot. Give the best bot a prize.
  • Send them on a "trash" treasure hunt.
  • More fun ideas for Wall-E Party activities

You can make your own Wall-E party invitations with blue and yellow card stock. With the blue for a background make yellow stars, and add a spaceship.

Add sayings to your Wall-E invitations like…

  • You’re invited to an intergalactic birthday party.
  • Blast off to _______’s Wall-E premiere party!
  • Come to our galaxy for a blast of a party.

If you have any other fun sayings for a Wall-E party game, or invitation, please feel free to add them to the comment section.

Peter Pan Party Ideas

Peter Pan Captain Hook cake topper A co-worker’s daughter is a big Peter Pan fan. Peter Pan party supplies are very hard to find. Here are a couple things you can do to incorporate the Peter Pan theme into your birthday party.

tinker bell party supplies

1. Have all the children make Peter Pan hats with green construction paper, and a feather.

2. Use green streamers and balloons to decorate.

3. Use green colored napkins, cups, and plates.

4. Top your cake with Disney Peter Pan And Captain Hook Cake Topper Set.

You can also incorporate the other Peter Pan characters with Tinker Bell Party Supplies for girls or a Captain Hook Party Box for boys.>

Here’s a simple treasure chest cake idea, it would work great for a Peter Pan party.

Ice two chocolate cakes, and layer them together with chocolate coins, gold, and silver wrapped candies sticking out from between the layers, and sprinkled around the edges of the cake. Add icing handles, and leather straps by cutting strips from rolled fondant for a realistic, rustic appearance.

Kung Fu Panda Party Supplies Are Out

Published by Linette under Party Themes

I can’t wait to see Kung Fu Panda in theatres June 6th (that’s only a little over a month away). Celebrate Express already has Kung Fu Panda Party Supplies, so if you’re planning on having Kung Fu Panda premiere party, or you want to have Kung Fu Panda as your birthday party theme you can get started with the planning.

Plan your Kung Fu Panda party with a Kung Fu, Asian, or animal theme, with earth tones, reds, golds and bamboo.

Plan games like egg races with chopsticks, kung fu relays (the kids take turn putting on a kung fu outfit and racing around a pole, take off the outfit and tag the next person to put it on).

Let them make a big gong with a cardboard pizza circle, and gold foil, and a cardboard mallet.

Serve iced fortune cookies for snacks, eggrolls, and fried rice.

Check out the official Kung Fu Panda Website for more games and activities, and a photo gallery.

Sunday Party Planning Links

birthday party I haven’t done a link post here for a while. There have been some great party posts this week. I thought I’d share some weekend reading with you.

She Knows Parties has 10 fun party favors you can make yourself.  She has a list of fun inexpensive party favors you can make for your next birthday party.

Birthday Parties and Themes has a horse cake idea made by her daughter. There are step by step instructions, and it’s a really cute cake for a horse theme birthday party.

Shindigz! has some really cute Mother’s Day party ideas, that would also work well for a summer garden tea party.

Janet at Kid’s Birthday Parties has fun favor and activity ideas for a Ben 10 birthday party.

If you’re looking for ideas for a Webkinz theme birthday party, check out this post by Deb at Mom of 3 Girls. Her daughter was invited to a Webkinz party and she shared some of the fun Webkinz party ideas they used there. I love the Webkinz World theme games, but I think my favorite part is the Webkinz bedrooms they made out of shoe boxes. The kids could purchase party favors with Kinz cash they’d earned during the party. She has some great photos, and details from the party. So cool!

Have a great week!

Plan An American Idol Viewing Party

Published by Linette under Party Themes

American Idol’s heating up with its best group of singers ever. With Idol Gives Back premiering April 9th and the Idol finale on May 21st it’s a great time to plan an American Idol viewing party. Let your kids have a couple friends over to watch the show together and have a great time. You can share some snacks and play a quick game of American Idol trivia before the show starts. I posted other Idol party games and ideas earlier in the season.

During the show you can root for your favorites, and agree or disagree with the judges opinions. Make posters in support of your favorite Idol, or judge. Just have fun with it, and enjoy rooting on your favorites!

Pokemon Birthday Party Ideas

Pokemon birthday party suppliesA couple years ago my son wanted to have a Pokemon birthday party. With the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon is still a popular party theme for young boys.I thought I’d share a couple things here that we did for my son’s party, maybe it will give you some ideas for your own Pokemon party.
Pokemon Party Game Ideas Have a Pokeball hunt. The Pokeballs can double as your party favors. Hide the Pokeballs like you would eggs if you were going to have an Easter egg hunt. Hide them in tougher spots if you have older children, make them easier to find if you have young children. Let each child find a Pokeball or two to take home with them.

Instead of a Pokeball hunt, you could also have a Pokemon treasure hunt. Divide the children into teams. Give the teams names like the Pokemon training team, or Team Rocket. Set up a trail of clues leading the children to a prize. Set up the trail before the guests arrive for the party. It’s easiest to start with the prize and work your way backward when you’re setting up the clues.

Pokemon Pinata
Draw a Pekachu on a large sheet of white paper, or a white board and play pin the tail on Pekachu.Get out the construction paper, pens, crayons, and markers. Let the children draw or create their favorite Pokemon.Play Pokemon trivia.

Play Pokemon charades and let the children pretend to be their favorite Pokemon while the other children try to guess who they are.

Pokemon bithday cake idea
Pokemon Party Decoration Ideas Decorate with red and white, or golden yellow. Make stars, lightning bolts, or Pokeball shapes to stick on the walls, or hang from the ceiling.Pokemon Cake Ideas

Make a Pikachu shaped cake, or make a Pokeball shaped cake or cupcakes with the Wilton Mini Ball Pan or the Wilton Sports Ball Pan Set.

You can also purchase Pokémon Cake Toppers to decorate a sheet cake, or round cake with.

Whatever you decide to do make sure you include your favorite Pokemon trainer (birthday star) in the party plans. Kids love to help plan their own party.
